The BEST Groomscake EVER!

So I know you guys have seen some great Groomscakes

Year 2010 ~ more than ever Groomscake has been a wonderful & very thoughtful wedding trend ~

A fabulous bride wanted to surprise her hubby-to-be.
And when she told me what the theme of the cake was going to be...I thought "WOW! What a thoughtful & sweet sentiment"

 Here's the Surprise Groomscake
Fit for the perfect DC Bride & Groom

With the grey colored fondant and silver metallic sparkle dust covering the ENTIRE cake it almost looks like real metal...but OHHHH yes this rich, dark, & luscious chocolate cake with fresh vanilla bean buttercream is very edible indeed!

A last look ~ my favorite part was carving the Capitol & Yes, I counted the columns...or at least I tried ;)

Here it is...in its glorious display at the Bride & Grooms' DC Fab Wedding!

FOOTBALL TIME!

LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLE!!!!
Wait...I mean play football?
I'm currently watching the Mayweather vs Mosley boxing fight...so thought I can sneak in a Michael Buffer shoutout!
May is...wedding season....thought you seen it all???
Check out this Groomscake! What a sweet bride!

For a Notre Dame Fan. The bride actually surprised the groom with a cake of his favorite team! I know the men out there are thinking: 'I want a cake of my favorite team too'!

Weren't these goal posts fun? Edible too!

I'm totally posting this when I have a backup of cake pictures to post. But I got so excited about this cake that I wanted to say...
Congratulations Soy + Joey!!!!

PING Golf

Wow! What an exciting month January has been...

So many exciting cake projects & this PING Golf project takes home the gold this month.
Check it OUT!
So here's the Inspiration:
& the Tools:
a. Wilton food coloring b. Cake plate c. Scissors d. Tape e. Waxed wrapping paper
Then you cut & tape until...WALA! You have some golf greens
(waxed paper so there's no discoloration when the cake is applied)

Then there's vanilla bean buttercream ~ yummo ~
In between 5 layers of chocolate cake...
So I started carving away to make the golf bag shape

Carved into the shape and frosted then layered with sugar fondant on it to resemble the actual construction of the golf bag. To give the 3D and the layering effect that a bag or a purse would have layering is a must!

Here it is customized...
Sitting in the fridge waiting for its accessories to make it complete
Golf clubs molded from sugar fondants pre-painted & painted and drying on the baking rack
A. no accessories B. adding on the clubs, golf bag, and golf strap
The closeups:
360 degree look...

A. the 'backside' B. the 'strap-side'
C. top-down

It was really hard to say goodbye to this handsome lookin' tee-time fun
It was definitely going to one loving and deserving guy from a beautiful and very thoughtful girlfriend!

Happy Birthday, Jinu!

Oldie but a Goodie~

So I'm starting off the new year with a classic creation from 2009 that for some reason was probably the most talked about cake creation (the muse of starting 'pamcakes'), but yet it never made it to the blog....weird? I know!

So it was the ULTIMATE: Popeyes Fried Chicken Cake...

Okay, so now you're probably thinking...what? Fried chicken cake...do those words even belong together? No, probably not. BUT before you start thinking gross...who puts fried chicken on a real cake. It is not fried chicken!

The peanut-buttery morsels were made out of sugar fondant molded into our favorite fried chicken pieces, dipped in peanut butter, and tossed in cornflakes cereal. Now I guess you can use other dipping if you don't like peanut butter, but the color and consistency makes it look like chicken skin. Hmmm...my favorite part of a fried chicken. The cornflakes gives it that crunch. So easy...yet so unexpected.

Even better is when you bite into it, it tastes like a peanut butter sandwich with a nice crunch! The white of the fondant even looks like chicken meat! :P Hmmm!

Let's get a recap...THE CAKE

The INSPIRATION(s)

The HAPPY CAMPER And some DESSERT for later!.............................TA DA!!!!!! :)
